ADPM owns a nearly 500 acres pastoral forestry agricultural farm, named “Wind Homestead”. Located 22 km north of Mértola and only three from “Pulo do Lobo” (Wolf’s Leap, a monumental natural site), holds a Biologic Interest Spot Classification, being set in one of Guadiana’s Valley Natural Park major interest areas for nature conservation, the estate itself presenting a large humanized, semi-natural and natural scenarios diversity of highly natural, landscape and cultural relevance.
Aiming to promote the existing natural resources correct management, harmonizing Nature’s conservation with regional sustainable development, “Wind Homestead” assumes the role of demo and experimental area for projects and studies development.
Thus, the estate management seeks to achieve the following objectives:
- Considering the endogenous resources, diversify a pastoral forestry agricultural farm production alternative;
- Research ecological agricultural production methods which promote the environment sustainable use;
- Provide farmers and forestry owners with an experimental and demonstrative centre of activities that harmonizes production with environmental sustainability;
- Sensitize the population, namely students, for the relevance of environment conservation and protection aiming activities;
- Create jobs, essentially for local population.
